Plenty of Draws in October, Looking Forward to November



The Hungarian Championship started last month and I returned to play with Kaposvar. Our first three games were all fought hard and competitive, but all three ended in ties, putting us 9th on the table with 3 points.


Below is a brief recap of the games as well as the current league table:


Szeged – Kaposvar 10:10 (1:2, 3:5,2:1, 4:2)

Szeged: Kürti 4, Leinweber 2, Pörge 2, Bóbis 1, Lakatos 1.

Kaposvar: Szatmari 3, Horvath 2, Vindisch 1, Takács 1, Juhasz-Szelei 1, Petrovski 1, Langiewicz 1.


In the first match of the championship Kaposvar led 7:4 at halftime, but in the second half Szeged made a comeback. Late in the game Szeged took a 10:9 lead with 39 seconds left on the clock. János Takács scored an equalizer for Kaposvar two seconds from the end, and the match ended without a winner.


Kaposvar – UVSE 11:11 (1:4, 6:4, 3:2, 1:1)

Kaposvar: Vindisch 2, J.Berta 2, Juhasz-Szelei 2, Szatmari 2, Petrovski 2, Langiewicz 1.

UVSE: Garancsy 3, Korban 3, A.Szentesi 2, R.Bencz 1, Korbacs 1, K.Tamas 1


Kaposvar and UVSE played an incredibly even match. UVSE got off to a good start and led 4-1 after the opening quarter. Ten goals were scored in the second period, with Kaposvar reducing the deficit, but UVSE held an 8-7 advantage at halftime. Kaposvar opened the second half with two goals to take the lead for the first time (9-8), but before the final period, both teams were tied 10-10. UVSE went ahead 11-10 in the 26th minute before Kaposvar equalized at 11-11 in the 29th minute as the teams ended in a draw.

PVSK Pecs: Kereszturi 3, Kolozsi 1, Vogel 1, Nemethy 1, R.Gaszt 1.

Kaposvar: Szatmari 3, Vindish 2, Berta 1, Petrovski 1.


In the middle of the third quarter, Kaposvar led 5:3. Then, early in the fourth, Pecs led the game 6:5. The visitors leveled at 6:6. Still, Pecs earned a one-goal lead again (7:6), but Ferenc Vindisch saved a point for Kaposvar scoring a last-gasp goal with two seconds to go.

Now continuing into November we will have a mix of championship and cup games. We will start the month with a championship game against the current top of the table team, Ferencváros (Fradi). We will then play Szolnok in the first round of the Hungarian Cup. It will consist of one home and then one away match. We then finish up the month with a match in Szentes.
